A few blocks away there is a shopping area, which includes a grocery store, restaurants, a gas station, two pharmacies, medical offices, banking, and a number of other shops. The Medicine Hat Family Leisure centre is also located nearby, which offers an aquatic park, a skating arena, and numerous outdoor fields for other activities.

The Veiner Centre, located in the Flats area of Medicine Hat, offers a place for seniors in the community to visit others and have some fun. People come to meet with friends, eat great home-cooked meals, volunteer, and take part in diverse activities. The Veiner Centre also provides support programs and community education that promotes the well being of people over 50 in the community.

City walking paths are located across the street from the main building overlooking Riverside and the river. A bus stop is located next to facility. Also, special transit provides transportation to eligible residents and pulls right up to the doors of the facility.
